Current Clinical Research Trials

Colorado Canine Orthopedics and Rehab is currently enrolling dogs between 1-10 years of age in a study comparing Autologous Protein Solution (APS) to Hyaluronan plus corticosteroid for treating hip arthritis.

Why use APS or Hyaluronan + corticosteroid? Because both have been proven to work in dogs with arthritis!

APS is a highly concentrated mixture of platelets, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory proteins produced from your own dog’s blood. Two clinical trials in dogs have already shown it improves comfort and function in dogs with arthritic joints including arthritic hips.

Hyaluronan is the major component of joint fluid and is a viscous, lubricating gel. Supplementing joint fluid with Hyaluronan and corticosteroid has also been shown to decrease inflammation and improve comfort and function in dogs.

Dogs that are enrolled will have a free orthopedic examination by a board-certified surgeon and sports medicine specialist, free radiographs of the hips, stifles, elbows, and shoulders, and free injections with APS and HA + Steroid. Owners are also paid $350 for completing three recheck appointments over a six-month period.
